Understanding Genshin Impact Banner Mechanics

Initially, Genshin Impact introduced new character banners with two exclusive characters per version, organized into two phases of 21 days each, with each phase featuring a single banner.

As the game expanded and players expressed interest in seeing their favorite characters return, miHoYo adapted by adding a second banner to each phase, featuring two exclusive characters per phase.

The pity system is shared across banners within the same phase; for example, if you reach 40 pity on one banner, your next wish on a different banner within the same phase will count towards your 42nd wish.

Typically, each Genshin Impact version spans approximately 42 days, divided equally between the two phases of character banners, each lasting about 21 days.

However, there have been delays, such as during the COVID outbreak in China, when players experienced extended periods with the same banner, such as the Ayaka banner.

Each phase features a separate banner for weapon banners showcasing the signature weapons of the characters in that phase. The permanent weapon banner remains unchanged.
