Red Dead Online was released in 2019, a year after Red Dead Redemption 2’s release. As a sequel to the 2010 Red Dead Redemption, it was one of the most anticipated games ever.
Given this situation, we want to know: Is Red Dead Redemption Online crossplay, and how active is its multiplayer platform?
Is Red Dead Online Crossplay?
Unfortunately, Red Dead Online doesn’t support cross-platform play at all. Players are limited to their specific platform, whether they’re on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation. It doesn’t offer crossplay or cross-progression features.
Cross-progression simply means if a player switches from Xbox to PlayStation, they have to start their game over from scratch, with no progress carrying over. This is a standard practice for Rockstar Games, similar to how GTA 5 also lacks crossplay.
Unfortunately, this situation has caused some division within the community, adding to the existing negative publicity. As gaming technology advances, we’re seeing many excellent crossplay games emerge, offering inclusive features from the start.
Currently, there are no indications that Red Dead Online will introduce crossplay, meaning the community will likely remain split.
Despite this, there’s still a good multiplayer experience available, especially for new players. It’s important to note that Red Dead Online can be quite grindy, and once players finish the main content, daily tasks can become repetitive.
